Major Project Experience

Utility Boiler Installation Project - Alberta, Canada

High-Level Scope

Installation of a new medium pressure steam boiler including the installation of a burner management system (BMS).   The project scope also included the required infrastructure (civil, foundations, buildings, piping, electrical, instrumentation, controls and insulation). 

 

Project Responsibilities & Deliverables

Led this fast-tracked project up to the end of the FEED (FEL-3) phase when it was then turned over to another business unit to complete.  During the detailed engineering phase, the project was transferred back to manage as the other business unit was not able to meet the necessary timelines and quality required for this project.  The major deliverables associated with this project included the development & completion of the following items:

Boiler proper equipment sourcing and contract negotiations; building and equipment layouts; FEED project gate documentation; process hazard analysis (PHA); 30% & 90% 3D model review, building and equipment layouts; detailed project and construction execution plans; Class 3 and 2 project estimates and basis of estimate documentation, systems based turnover strategy; detailed project and construction execution plans; equipment preservation; engineering and field change management process creation & execution; project controls; quality assurance and quality control; piping and structural steel pre-fabrication; logic and controls pre-testing; pre-commissioning; pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs); commissioning and start-up; turnaround management and construction management of the construction execution phase.
