Ammonia & Urea Brownfield Debottleneck - Alberta, Canada
High-Level Scope
Modifications & debottleneck of an existing ammonia and urea plant to allow for a significant increase in urea production. The project scope also included the installation of a new granulation unit, energy efficiency upgrades, major utilities and offsite (U&O) upgrades and modifications to existing electrical, steam generation, water treatment, cooling water, raw water systems, storage and rail systems.
Project Responsibilities & Deliverables
Led this project up to end of the front-end engineering design (FEED or FEL-3) phase. The major deliverables associated with this project included the development & completion of the following items:
Project charter; contract development including creation of technical specifications and RFP packages & negotiations for major equipment, engineering, process licensor services & construction services; project gate documentation including process study, DBM and FEED documentation; initial environmental regulatory strategy development; extensive laser scanning management; process hazard analysis (PHA); plant layout including buildings and major equipment; Class 3 project estimate including all direct and indirect costs as well as basis of estimate documentation; detailed project and construction execution plans; qualitative (risk registers & process mapping) and quantitative (Monte Carlo simulations) cost risk assessments; Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI); systems based turnover strategy; 30% model review and AFE phase development and submissions.
